Professional Background
Carlos Pelayo Gonzalez, Esq. received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida International University, where he also was an Honors College graduate, in 1997. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University Of Florida Levin College Of Law in 2000. From 2000-2003, Mr. Gonzalez was an Assistant State Attorney in the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County. In that capacity he was both a Committed DUI prosecutor and the Drug Court prosecutor. Mr. Gonzalez was responsible for supervising as well as training DUI prosecutors during his stay at the State Attorney’s Office. Mr. Gonzalez left the State Attorney’s Office in 2003 to join the Law firm of Albert Quirantes, P.A.. In 2010 Mr. Gonzalez started his own practice continuing to excel in criminal trial representation and handling thousands of criminal and infraction trials.
Experience
Mr. Gonzalez has extensive criminal trial experience. He has handled DUI, DWLS, Sex Crimes, Forgery, Battery, Drug related cases. He has taken close to 100 cases to jury trial verdicts but most cases are reduced or dismissed before trial. Mr. Gonzalez also donates his time to teach other attorneys for the Florida Bar as a guest speaker at the Masters of DUI Seminar; speaking at Continuing Legal Education classes for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and training for DUI’s for the Dade County Public Defender’s office.
